We've been working with Shawmut since 2004 and have multiple projects with them each year and although they can be slow at paying at times, we never ran into a problem where they did not pay us. And usually, they pay within the first 60-90 days and we understand as it's been this way for them for the past couple decades and this is how their system works. Follow the instructions on the agreement and everything will be fine.

Do your papers correctly, Do NOT listen to the PM to do any extras (even via email) !! Their PM on a project we had with them quits his job, and Co. Refused to pay our invoice of $35000+ Sorry for us we couldn't lien the job( B ofA in Beverly Hills).

They were extremely late on the first draw and the jobsite was a huge safety disaster. We warned them that it needed to be fixed or we would be shut down, which they did not fix it and the fire department shut them down. They hired us to help them make things compliant and we came in on a weekend to help them and no one from Shawmut came to sign the T&M, which they later denied that we ever did! We threatened to walk off the job if we were not paid for the first draw, which was 90% of the contract. They panicked and paid us a portion. They never approved our T&M, which was not included in the amount we were shorted. They never paid t he remainder of the base bid, even after we completed the job. We placed a lien, and stopped hearing from them We received a cold call from a 'collector/lawyer' stating that they owed some other clients money and convinced us to allow him to handle it. We never heard back from either company. We hired a lien attorney to pursue our lien, and he found out that that company 'Premier Holdings' had made an agreement with Shawmut to cut a check for less then half they owed and signed a lien release. They then threatened to sue us if we did not release our lien. The lawyer believes the collectors were a fraud, and most likely illegally partnered or owned by Shawmut as a way of abandoning charges. They have gone off the radar and we will never work, nor recommend anyone work with Shawmut. They were messy, unsafe, hired unexperienced PM's, had major turn over, and irresponsive from corporate in addition to short paying. I hope they are caught and taken down s that no other small subs have to lose that much money. Our company was barely able to absorb it, and they found a way to legally cheat the system.

They set crazy deadlines and push subs to meet them while saying that they will pay for the expedite schedule and change orders. At the end of the job they will not honor the change orders and usually try to get money off of your base contract as well. They were also fired by the owner on the last two jobs we worked for them midway through the projects.

They absolutely do not care about their subs. They only hire the lowest bidder, then manage the job poorly and will have to be forced to pay you at the end.

We have completed 40-50 projects with Shawmut in the last 3-4 years, with no payment problems.

Very slow pay . Extra work even when approved is very difficult to get paid at end of project. Had to,lien project. Property owner had to get involved

Very poor payment system, subcontractors are always let down and promised to be paid, but end of the project they don't pay you. They push subcontractors to meet deadlines that are no realistic and promise help, but they never do.

Don’t do business with these snakes. They pay what they want and when they want with no regard to they’re subs who make them who they are. They are on our black list we will not do business with them.

They pay very slow and will try to screw you out of change orders and contract money owed.

As long as you have all the require paperwork turned in on time you will get paid, they will try to reduce your Change order amounts based on if they can get the owner to pay up all the costs.
